Mindy Ranstrom Nash
- What made you Start CrossFit?
I would have to say that I was kind of stuck in a rut and not happy with myself. My mom joined Crossfit and said it might be something I would enjoy. She did the “New You” class in March of 2016 and then I did the May 2016
- How has CrossFit changed your life?
I just hit my one year mark. For one I am way more confident and I am happier with myself. I am way stronger, and I noticed my endurance playing soccer has increased (I can play the whole game and I am still running at the end). This change has been positive for my kids; they like going to the gym with me and workout and I have been working on my nutrition which has been passed onto my kids as well. I am more aware how it affects my workout and my daily life and my body.
- What are some of the goals you have?
I want to do a strict pull-up. I want to have all my PR’s over 100lbs. I would also like to push my endurance and try to increase that as well.
- What is your perfect workout?
No running. My perfect WOD would be lifting heavy. I like any of the overhead movements – snatches, overhead squats, jerks – and just go heavy. So, I think the perfect workout would be rowing, heavy lifting and wallballs.
- What would you tell somebody just starting out or thinking about starting out?
Show up. All you have to do is get yourself here. We will push you through the workout, we will get you through it – but the basic thing is show up. Once you are here, the workout is set and you will have support to get it done.
- What is your previous fitness background?
I played basketball and softball year around when I was younger. In high school my hobbies changed a bit, and then after high school I started playing soccer.
- What do you like most about CrossFit and what do you like about Bios?
I like that it’s always changing, it’s never the same and it keeps my attention. It keeps my interest – I am competitive with myself and like to push myself to do better than I did last time. I like Bios because of people; people are awesome. The community is supportive, everybody pushes everybody else to do better, there is never any negativity and everybody is always is positive and happy.
- What is something that is something interesting that people don’t know about you?
I have grown fond of paddle boarding and I am looking forward to this summer and enjoying it with my family.
- What motivates and/or inspires you?
Taking care of my health so that I can keep up with my kids, be a good role model for my kids by taking care of myself, and being happier in my body; physically and mentally.
